![]() ![]() Now that I have successfully set up the photo frame to perform this operation, I can report that the quality of the displayed images is excellent and the menu of customizations and options is very useful. So this time I took out the $5 3 year Amazon warranty.Īfter comparing features and reading reviews, I decided that the Micca 15-inch Photo Frame was the best choice for my intended purpose: to show my collection of digital images in random order. I suspect that the power supply became defective and destroyed the actual frame itself. I just am hoping the next display lasts longer.Īs a side note, while trying to diagnosis what was wrong with the picture frame, I measured the voltage of the power supply as being 20v, not the 9v that was stated. and although there are frames with newer features, this still looks like the best deal around. And I've been looking at reviews, pricing, etc. However, it stopped working about 3 weeks ago. A little better resolution would be nice but this is OK. The interface is a little clunky, but the picture quality and simple features we wanted all were very good. One died after a week, the other had poor display quality when we actually used it. I had previously bought at that time two other frames, from two different manufacturers. Hope that someone else will find this information useful. I'm pleased with the purchase (and would buy another one, now that I know what's needed.) Just wish it had been a little easier to get there. Now that everything is formatted to suit the frame, it works and looks beautiful. Turns out, only RGB images will display, but none of the company support info mentioned this. ![]() It turns out these 4 images had been created in CMYK color mode rather than RGB. In my case, none of these things solved the problem I had of 4 particular photos not displaying - they only showed as black space in the slideshow rotation. * Renamed all photos to be within the recommended convention - no more than 8-characters, no spaces or special characters, preferably as follows: image001, image002, etc. * Resize your images to be compatible with the size displayed by your frame (in my case 1024x768) * Photo batch reprocess your images to remove any corrupt files (I used the free utility FastStone Image Viewer recommended by the manufacturer. * Reformat the SD Drive to ensure all old files are erased and that it's using a FAT32 file system To make it easier for others who might have the same problems, I have assembled all the troubleshooting steps here: On top of that, online information on steps to take to correct the problem were not all in one place and not easy to locate - it took me three days of trial and error to fix the problem (and my gift-giving was late as a result - never expected this kind of problem!) This might not be a problem for folks just using photos they took with a camera, but I bought the frame as a gift to display a slideshow from JPG files I built in Photoshop. The remote problem was not really significant, but I can't give the frame five stars, because of the difficulty getting the photos formatted correctly for display. ![]() The remote control never worked quite right (photos did not advance when using the right arrow, only when using the down arrow.) When everything was finally said and done, I found the product to be a good one at a good price: the pictures displayed beautifully - crisp, clear and vivid. First of all, I want to say I purchased this for the combination of display size and price - 15" at $129, and it plays background music! Was excited to receive it and pleased to receive a follow up email asking about my experience from the manufacturer.
